After last week’s news that an environmental study would slow down the high-voltage power line Xcel and Tri-State hope to build across the southern end of the state, the two companies defended their plan in an interview with the Pueblo Chieftain. While the line could bring solar power to thousands of residents in the region, a competing analysis that seeks to avoid La Veta pass and the ranch owned by billionaire hedge fund manager Louis Bacon has brought the Xcel/Tri-State proposal under attack.
